People often ask what inspired me to build Opal
The answer begins long before the company existed — in a small village in the French Alps, where I first learned the value of quiet, attention, and presence.
Growing up surrounded by nature taught me to appreciate simplicity and depth. At the same time, I was drawn to technology — fascinated by what it could enable and how it could connect people across the world.
⚡ The desire to connect, build, explore, and share — and the need to disconnect, reflect, and exist fully in the present moment.
Opal was born from this duality — and from my belief that technology, when designed with intention, can help us live better, not just faster.
🗺️ The Journey Before Opal
My career brought me across industries, cities, and challenges — each shaping my perspective on focus, attention, and the modern digital world.
💡 Early Entrepreneurship
In 2012, I founded ArtList, an online marketplace featuring $100 million of inventory from collectors, auction houses, and leading galleries.
When ArtList was acquired by artnet in 2017, I joined as CMO, deepening my understanding of scaling technology and creative businesses.
🤖 Product & Technology
Before that, I trained in product marketing at Google, working on Maps, YouTube, and AdWords.
These were formative years — the first time I truly understood the impact of global-scale technology on daily life, for both good and bad.
🗼 Mobility & Cities
I later became General Manager at Bird. Launching Bird in Paris was a whirlwind; within four months, 5% of all Parisians had tried it.
This experience taught me how quickly technology can transform city life — and how important responsible design is when serving millions of people.
🎨 Community & Creativity
I’ve lived in New York City and Paris, built relationships across continents, invested in startups, and stayed closely connected to the founder community. I continue to support emerging artists, believing they bring essential inspiration and provocation into the world.
I was honored to be featured in the Art+Auction Magazine Power 100 list for my work with ArtList and in the art market.
These chapters shaped my thinking — especially the belief that technology must support human wellbeing, not erode it.
🎓 Education & Philosophy
I earned a Master’s degree in Finance and Strategy and a BA in Political Science from Sciences Po Paris.
Throughout my life, I’ve approached challenges like an engineer: rigorously, creatively, and with a deep interest in building what doesn’t yet exist.
This mindset became foundational when creating Opal.
🚀 The Birth of Opal
In 2020, I founded Opal with a simple mission:
“To help people reclaim focus and attention so they can do their best work and live more intentional lives.”
We are living in the most distracted era in human history. Technology shapes not only what we do, but how we think, feel, rest, and connect.
⚡ When used without intention, it fragments us. When designed thoughtfully, it can make us more present, more focused, and more human.
Opal exists to build that kind of technology.
🔮 Looking Forward
For me, Opal is more than a company — it’s a lifelong mission, shaped by every chapter of my story. From a quiet mountain village, to Google, to founding multiple startups, to leading teams across cities, one truth has remained constant:
Attention is our most valuable resource.
Protecting it is essential to doing meaningful work, nurturing real relationships, and living a fulfilled life.
